'Game of Thrones' Season 6 Trailer: Jon Snow Still Dead

Mar 10, 2016, 18:35

The season 6 trailer for the Emmy-winning HBO series has pulled in 30 million views in less than 24 hours after debuting on Tuesday. Time Out London spoke to the actor and he confirmed Jon Snow will be back for season 6 but only as corpse.

Asked if he's filmed any scenes for the upcoming season, Harington replies, "Look, I'm not in the show any more".

'Game of Thrones' Season 6 Trailer: Sex, Violence and Dead Jon Snow
She may be mistaken, as she was about Stannis, but Jon's story is likely not finished yet - and his direwolf Ghost lives on. Melisandre , someone who could raise Jon from the dead, and Davos are seen talking several times throughout the trailer.

Elsewhere, Jaime Lannister's (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) ship is returning to King's Landing, but his reunion with his sister and lover Cersei (Lena Headey) will not be a happy one since he will have to deliver the news that their daughter has been poisoned. "I'm definitely not in the new series", Harington told the publication point-blank. There's no bait-and-switch, either, as Jon's lifeless corpse is glimpsed a few more times throughout the trailer, his dire wolf Ghost right at his side. Season 6 looks like it's going to be unbelievable (as always).

Perhaps we'll see him at the start dead, with the show then shifting away to its many other plot-threads before a massive cliffhanger at the end of the season suggesting he's perhaps not quite as completely dead as we've been lead to believe. Barring rampant speculation on the fate of Jon Snow, who is both alive and dead depending on the day of the week, not much has been said on the record about what awaits Westeros. Game of Thrones is also available on Astro On the Go. Jon Snow's parentage remains a huge mystery, and the red priestess Melisandre has expressed keen interest in his future.
