The knife found on OJ Simpson's property probably isn't the murder weapon

Unsurprisingly, the already sketchy facts are becoming even less reliable as new details about just what happened nearly 20 years ago are made public.

Simpson's Rockingham estate in Brentwood was demolished in 1998.

Do you think that the knife found on O.J. Simpson's property will be the key to closure in this case?

Officials with the Los Angeles Police Department say they're conducting tests on a knife found on O.J. Simpson's old property and forensic expert Dr. Henry Lee, who testified at his trial in the mid 1990s, thinks it could be a game changer.

Famously, the weapon used to murder Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman was never found during the investigation. Several of those attorneys have spoken out on the knife's discovery, calling the find "ridiculous" and "highly suspect".

It was unclear when the knife was found and how long it was held by the officer, who is now retired.

Clark also said she believed it was possible that DNA evidence could be lifted from the blade that could shed light on the case. Capt. Andrew Neiman told reporters at a press conference on Friday that it is still unknown whether the claims surrounding the knife are "bogus from the get-go" and that it could be a "facsimile or made-up story".

At the time, the officer was off duty, working security for a movie shoot across the street from Simpson's home, Neiman confirmed. The prosecution investigated reports that Simpson, playing a former U.S. Navy SEAL, received "a fair amount of" military training - including the use of a knife- for "Frogmen".

Sources said the knife found at OJ Simpson's former home was a 5-inch Buck Knife, a different type of weapon than the one used in the gruesome murders from 22 years ago. The weapon used in the killings has been a mystery for more than two decades. Other knives have surfaced during the case, but they were not linked to the crimes.

Retired LAPD Detective Tom Lange was the lead investigator on the case and says Simpson's property was thoroughly searched.

Simpson had been accused of killing his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simposon and her friend Ronald Goldman in June 1994 at her condominium. That evidence was dismissed by his attorney, Johnnie Cochran. A jury acquitted Simpson in 1995 after deliberating only four hours.

Dropping the gloves: Rakell scored a decisive victory over the Kings' Kris Versteeg to cap a first-period melee between the teams. Anaheim extended its lead to 3-1 on Silfverberg's ninth goal of the season at 2:24 of the final period.

In 1997, a civil court jury found Simpson liable for the slayings and awarded millions of dollars in damages to the victims' families.

In real life, Kardashian was seen leaving Simpson's Brentwood estate carrying a Louis Vuitton garment a day after the fatal stabbings.

O.J. Simpson is now serving a 33 year sentence in a Nevada prison for his role in a botched robbery back in 2007. He is eligible for parole next year.

When the news of the knife broke, Weber said he began receiving tons of emails from friends, linking to to when media outlets reported that he was looking for the knife.

Key players in the trial said the knife could contain crucial evidence.

"Many knives have been turned over", he added.

Douglas said he thinks his former client would be "chuckling" at all the new developments.
