Dr. Dre set to star in Apple's first original series

Dr. Dre is apparently starring in the show and also producing it, it will be a six episode show and it will apparently also feature Sam Rockwell and Mo McCrae. The rap legend is also credited as an executive producer for the show, having previously produced Straight Outta Compton, the 2015 blockbuster biographical drama about his former hip-hop group N.W.A.

Dr. Dre will star and produce the six-episode show, called Vital Signs, with production bankrolled by Apple.

Apple finance the series, which will likely be distributed through its online music service Music Apple, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which has not however been able to determine if the Apple TV streaming box, the iTunes store or another platform of apple brand could have a role to play. The company has a vast existing user base - it's sold more than 700 million iPhones alone - and it has proven willing to take advantage of that fact. The show will be an Apple Music project and will be exclusively available through Apple TV.

Apple Music and Dr. Dre declined to comment on the Hollywood Reporter's findings.
