Bush: From South Carolina cameo to starring role

He needed a strong debate - he vigorously outlined his tax plan and showed some foreign policy acumen - but he was often lost in the Trump-Bush brawl.

Weeks of simmering tension between U.S. Sen.

Donald Trump said bluntly: "It's up to [Senate Majority Leader] Mitch McConnell and everybody else to stop it. It's called delay, delay, delay". You are probably worse than Jeb Bush. Also appearing this morning: John Kasich, who'll be on "This Week" and "Meet the Press". I don't believe the United States should involve itself in civil wars. "I would like the president to just for once here put the country first". Senator Lindsey Graham of SC, who ended his GOP presidential campaign in December and endorsed Jeb Bush in January, said: "The Bush name is golden in my state". He added that President Barack Obama should take a "consensus orientation" toward that nomination, but added: "There's no doubt in my mind that Barack Obama will not have a consensus pick when he submits that person to the Senate".

The fighting among the Republican candidates is intensifying as the field has narrowed.

Clinton has the support of 59% of likely Democratic primary voters in SC, which is a lead that has narrowed slightly from last month, according to CBS.

Trump also had a heated exchange with Cruz when the senator said Trump would appoint liberals to the Supreme Court. And as he jousted Saturday with Trump, Jeb Bush said, "this is not about my family or his family".

Sung Kang: Just missed shooting 59 on Friday
Then he was told that Kang was at 11 under and playing his final hole and Rose smiled and said, "The greens are obviously ideal ". He was around the green in two shots on all of the par 5s at Spyglass Hill on Thursday and made only one birdie.

Mr Trump is leading in polls in SC, but Mr Bush is counting on the state to boost his fortunes as the race turns to the south. Mr Trump sought to take him down early in the debate, in part by denigrating Mr Bush's brother George W. (President 2001-2009). But that one was a beauty... "We should have never been in Iraq, we have destabilized the Middle East".

While many people are saying that Jeb Bush's performance was not really anything worthwhile, but the way he responded to the onslaught of Donald Trump against his family shows that he isn't really afraid of the reality czar.

All are prominent in SC, with Bush campaign aide Brett Foster going so far as to say that George W. Bush is "the most popular Republican alive".

Maybe now, they said, voters will come to their senses and dump Trump.

Candidates used Mr Scalia's sudden death to raise the stakes for the general election. Ted Cruz, the victor in Iowa's caucuses. Dr Ben Carson is still competing, but it's not clear why and he barely made his voice heard in Saturday's debate.

Cruz continued by saying that Trump "didn't disagree with the substance that he supported taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood". "Vote for Ted Cruz.' This guy will say anything. Nasty guy. Now we know why he doesn't have one endorsement from any of his colleagues". "When you point to his own record, he screams, 'Liar, liar, liar'".

Torrentrial rain floods homes and roads across Coventry and Warwickshire
The Port of Dover was closed for two hours overnight, with the authority tweeting on Monday that it was monitoring the situation. Tomorrow and Wednesday should be drier, quieter and colder days for many before more wind and rain follows later in the week.

Saturday's debate came one week before South Carolina's primary. He stumbled badly in a debate days before that vote.

While Rubio engaged in some acrimonious exchanges with Cruz, he also thoughtfully explained some of his policy platforms, such as his proposal for expanding the Child Tax Credit.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich defended himself against attacks on his conservative credentials, particularly his decision to expand Medicaid in Ohio despite resistance from his Republican-led Legislature. Kasich argued that his decision was a good deal for the state in the long run. But then, he said, the Senate should have its say. He has the momentum going into SC and onward to Super Tuesday. Cruz released a television advertisement before the debate accusing Trump of a "pattern of sleaze".

Trump leaned quickly into the microphone and quipped, "She should be running".

In yet another spat, Trump called Bush the "weakest person on this stage by far on illegal immigration" over his position on illegal immigration and calls for more compassion on the issue.
