"I'm just happy to be here for myself and my family, to accomplish some things and some goals that I said I was going to do", Bosh told AP when asked what reaction he expected from fans in Toronto, where he played his first seven pro seasons.

"I am honored to be selected to participate in the All-Star Weekend festivities and will still be here to support my fellow East All-Stars", Bosh said in a statement released by the team.

Then, less than three hours after Bosh left the podium, with no noticeable limp, news leaked that he would sit out both Saturday's Three-Point Shootout and Sunday's All-Star Game due to a strained calf.

There had been no word from Bosh recently about any injury, and he has been the Heat's healthiest player this season.

Bosh has started eight games in mid-December with a strained calf and now will be able to rest until the Heat resume the unofficial second half of the regular season next Friday.
