19th-ranked Dayton narrowly defeats Rhode Island 68-66
Darrell Davis was the hero the Flyers needed as the sophomore hit a 3-pointer with less than 30 seconds left to lift the No. 19 Dayton Flyers a 68-66 road victory over the Rhode Island Rams.
The win pushed Dayton to 11-1 in the Atlantic-10 and secures the lead in the conference into the weekend.
Success has been elusive for the Flyers as the visitor in this series, as they've lost six straight at Rhode Island since a 56-49 win January 27, 2005.
Extreme cold gripping parts of central, eastern Canada this weekend
Nearly all of Manitoba is under an extreme cold warning Friday morning as an Arctic ridge of high pressure brings cold air south. Very cold wind chill values between about minus 30 and minus 35 are expected overnight into Saturday morning.
At home, the Rams are 11-3 and 5-1 against A-10 teams, though all of the league wins have come against schools now under.
The Flyers shot 52 percent from the floor, and were led by Dyshawn Pierre with 17 points. The first half battle ended with Dayton on top 37-33. Martin countered for the Rams with a three-point play 40 seconds left.
That set up Davis' game-winner thanks to some great ball movement. UD also improved to 21-3 overall and 6-1 on the road.
New Zika Virus Guidelines Expected from CDC
He said they are very common in areas that have poor drainage or sitting water, such as dog dishes, bird baths or sagging gutters. A ZIKA outbreak on the Sunshine Coast is unlikely because the species that carries the virus hasn't been found this far south.
The Flyers are in first place in the Atlantic 10 and have not been 10-1 in league play since the 2002-03 season.
Dayton looks to make things a little less stressful after rallying from 12 points down late to extend its winning streak to eight games last time out.
Four McGlynn led URI with 19 points while Hassan Martin followed up with a double-double, 15 points and 10 rebounds, in the game. Four McGlynn had 25 points and three rebounds and Jarred Terrel had 18 points and five assists to lead the Rams. The Flyers finished with seven steals and five blocks in the win, and while they allowed one of the better shooting performances of the year by an opponent, they made up for it with a strong shooting performance of their own.
