The robot butler can speak, process basic commands and even follow its owner around the house.

Though it has been adapted to a number of inventive shapes and sizes ranging from three-wheeled patrollers to self-balancing two seaters, the Segway never quite found the commercial success envisaged when the first models appeared way back in 2002. The robot's video feed also goes directly to your smartphone where you receive a notification so you can see exactly who's coming. Nevertheless, Intel showed off something very cool at CES 2016, it's a hoverboard that it has built with Segway, but this one is also capable of transforming into your robot valet. At the beginning of Krzanich keynote address on a seemingly innocuous hoverboard, later unveiled that the device can convert into a personal robot that would be operated by a touch button to perform a variety of functions in a smart home environment.

The robot transforms into a helper when its not in use. With Intel's RealSense RGB-D depth sensing camera, along with other fisheye tracking and photo cameras, the robot could be programmed to recognize, follow or take snaps and video of subjects or its master. And lo and behold, the personal transport company has a few tricks up its sleeve. Intel Corp CEO Brian Krzanich with the self-balancing Ninebot Segway personal transportation robot.

Ninebot has yet to indicate how much the robot is likely to cost, but Mr Krzanich said it would be at a "cost effective pricepoint".
