Days challenges violence against women

International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (IDEVAW) will be observed on November 25, to be followed by 16 days of activism, ending on December 10.

Today is the start of 16 days aimed at stopping violence against women all around the world; International Day of No Violence Against Women.

Until the society as a whole does not address women issue, the problem will continue to stand before us.

Orange, which symbolises a brighter future and a world free from violence against women, is the official colour of the campaign.

Next month, an global meeting will discuss ways to end violence against women.

Translink revealed their workers would wear a white ribbon for the 16 days to mark their support for the issue, with their campaign being launched at Queen Street in Belfast on Wednesday morning.
