Coming off a disappointing 9-7 season that left them on the outside looking into the playoffs, the Titans have made clear their desire to have a quarterback competition during training camp this summer to determine who will be the starter in 2012.
Last year, the Titans spent much of the season with veteran Matt Hasselbeck under center while rookie quarterback Jake Locker watched and learned from the sideline. Locker was afforded an opportunity to gain valuable playing time in five contests, completing 34 passes for 542 yards and four touchdowns.
Those two should battle it out throughout the majority of the off-season to prove they’re the best candidate for the starting gig, and while the safe pick is to say Hasselbeck will earn the nod and start the season off as the number one guy, Locker has all the tools to step up his game enough to take over right now.
Hasselbeck finished last season with 319 completions for 3,571 yards and 18 touchdowns.
