Cincinnati’s victory over their rivals from Baltimore this afternoon was controversial on a number of levels, with the officials making spot judgments that gave the Bengals the advantage late in the game.
Whether they were wrong in those decisions is debatable, but according to Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis, they clearly influenced the outcome against his team and he wasn’t shy about sharing his feeling on the subject after the game was over (H/T to Black Sports Online).
Complaining about the referee’s judgment is nothing new for Lewis, who has been outspoken in the past when he’s felt the game was unjustly decided outside of the normal action. In this case though, Lewis made it clear that the Bengals failed to earn their win today, which is sure to elicit more than a few responses, especially from Cincinnati.
While it’s enjoyable for the fans when players and coaches don’t hold back in their remarks, the league is not amused in any way, and in this case, Lewis will likely be looking at a fine of some sort this week.
