Those of you that have followed us here at NFLNR for some time now will know that we rarely talk about the fantasy implications of player/team maneuvers. That’s not for a lack of enjoyment derived from fantasy football on our part… in actual fact, we enjoy the game quite a bit and play pretty much every year… but rather, it’s that there are so many more knowledgeable minds out there when it comes to that side of the game.
That said, we’re always open to new ideas and concepts for fantasy games surrounding the NFL and its growing legion of statistical gurus taking a page out of the sabermetric lovers in the MLB, so it’s with great pleasure that we get to pitch a great option for fantasy die hards this fall: Suicide Fantasy Football.
The guys over at SuicideFantasyFootball.com have put together the best slate of leagues available on the web today, and they’ve asked us for their help in getting the word out. We’re all too happy oblige given our enjoyment of the game… you may even find yourself squaring off against one of us in a league this fall… and to sweeten the deal, you’ll get a FREE T-shirt just for signing up and playing through the season!
The basic tenets of the game are pretty similar to existing formats in place right now, but instead of drafting a full slate of players at the start of the season and hoping they’ll put together a fantastic season, you get to pick a new player to ride each week, using all of your talents and skills as an owner to find the best of the bunch.
Once you use a particular player, he’s unavailable to you for the rest of the year, making it imperative that you make smart picks every week, trying to save your studs if at possible for the later stages of the season.
And unlike traditional suicide fantasy football pools, where you’re eliminated if you pick wrong one week, this game lets you keep going all the way through to week 17, accumulating as many points as possible in the process, with the winner of each league being the guy/gal with the best overall score at the end.
I promise you that you’ll have a great time playing and if you can hammer out a solid strategy from week to week, you might even up winning a nice chunk of cash at the end of the year. And don’t forget the FREE T-shirt that you’ll get when you sign up… to get that, just be sure to type in “NFLNR” in the promo box when you sign up.
What are you waiting for? Get over to SuicideFantasyFootball.com and start playing today!
