The rumors of where Michael Vick might be playing in the 2010 season are sure to start heating up when the new league year is welcomed in on March 5th and the trading period begins.
However, the Eagles’ quarterback might have stirred up the serious speculation a little early with some statements he made on an Atlanta radio show appearance. After being asked by the host to answer a listener’s question regarding where he would like to play if he could choose anywhere in the NFL, Vick said it would be the Carolina Panthers.
Here’s his response:
“Well, you know, it’s close to home. I like the uniforms. You get to play against Atlanta twice a year. Ain’t nothing better than playing against your former team, right? So, yeah, that would be a good look, it would be a good look.”
– Philadelphia QB Michael Vick
After agreeing to a controversial deal with the Eagles during the 2009 preseason, the former Falcon and speedy passer played sparingly throughout the year. Primarily used in a Wildcat/situational role, he was able to score 4 touchdowns (including one in the team’s lone playoff game), Vick is clearly not in the athletic form he was in prior to his 2007-2008 jail sentence, but is expected to be in the radar of QB-needy teams this offseason.
The Panthers have not shown much interest in Michael Vick, but there’s definitely a possibility that Carolina could be his new home in ’10. After all, the Eagles are sure to move at least one of their solid Quarterbacks, and many signs indicate that he will be the one to go.
