Heading into the off-season, one of the primary goals for St. Louis was to upgrade its defensive line. And while they certainly can address that need with their first round selection (#1 overall) in this year’s draft, adding a solid veteran into the mix via free agency would be a step in the right direction.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Rams have done just that, coming an agreement with free agent defensive tackle Fred Robbins (Giants) on a three year contract. The deal could be worth close to $12 million if all the incentives are reached.
Robbins will be rejoining his former defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, who’s now the head coach in St. Louis. That was likely the deciding factor for him, along with the nice payday he’ll be receiving.
