Free agent cornerback Marlin Jackson (Colts) spent much of last weekend on the road, visiting with multiple teams interested in having him join their secondary next season. But lingering injury concerns may be hurting Jackson’s chances at landing a starting role as a cover corner, and while there is still some interest in his services present, it remains to be seen if he’ll find the contract he’s been looking for this off-season.
One of the teams that is reportedly open to acquiring Jackson is the Eagles, who have a distinct need for an upgrade at the free safety position. While Jackson has primarily been a cornerback for his entire career to this point, he would be a likely candidate to make the transition to the safety position, given his coverage skills and tackling ability in the open field.
Philadelphia will be the third team to host Jackson since the start of free agency last Friday, with Baltimore and Minnesota being the other two clubs interested in his services. Jackson is a five year veteran and is most known for his interception of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in the waning seconds of the 2007 AFC Championship Game.
