Philadelphia has one of the deepest and strongest receiving corps in the league, and this evening they took full advantage of that by sending wide receiver Reggie Brown to the Buccaneers in exchange for a sixth round pick in the 2011 draft.
Brown was the fifth receiver on the Eagles depth chart, and as such became the most expendable part on the team this off-season. Philadelphia will now look to replace Brown with a much cheaper option late in this year’s draft, and develop that player for the future.
As for Tampa Bay, they’re getting a fairly talented receiver who was a victim of the depth chart, and should be able to use Brown effectively next season. Last season was easily Brown’s worst as a professional, but he has displayed the ability to be a quality receiver in the past, putting up 61 catches for 780 yards and 4 touchdowns in 2007.
