Seemingly at the center of discussion each off-season, Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb once again is in the crosshairs of multiple trade rumors, and the possibility of his departure from Philly seems likely at this point.
According to ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio, the Bills, Browns, and Broncos have all had conversations with Philadelphia’s front office in recent days about a potential deal for McNabb, and while Denver is publicly denying such talks have taken place, there is little doubt that they’re on the hunt for a legitimate starter at the position this off-season.
As for the chances of a deal to either Buffalo or Cleveland, it would be surprising to say the least if an agreement was reached with one of those clubs, as McNabb would be forced to compete for a team that has little to no shot of reaching the Super Bowl in the near future. Trading him to one of those franchises would be a slap in the face, at least in McNabb’s mind, and as such, it’s doubtful Andy Reid and Co. will make such a move.
The outside contender for his services could very well be Minnesota, as the likelihood of a Super Bowl run next season hinges on who is taking the snaps in the fall. If Brett Favre does decide to return, a trip to Dallas wouldn’t be out of the question, but if not, the Vikings would definitely be in the market for a top tier passer to get them over the hump and into the championship game.
As always, we’ll keep you posted when more information becomes available.
