Once thought to be a premier candidate for a head coaching gig before being fired from his defensive coordinator position in Chicago, Ron Rivera has seemingly come close to full circle in his coaching career.
Rivera, who is currently serving as the defensive coordinator for the Chargers, is expected to interview with the Bills at some point during the next two weeks, according to WGR 550 AM Radio in Buffalo, NY. The Bills still have to receive permission from San Diego to speak with Rivera, but that is a mere formality given the long standing policy of allowing coaches to interview for positions that are higher than their current role.
Buffalo would need to sit down with Rivera during the Chargers’ BYE week before the divisional round of the playoffs, as he would be unavailable after that game if San Diego advance to the AFC Championship game or to the Super Bowl.
