Fri 9:50 am – You can breathe now Jets fans… According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the MRI has revealed no major ligament damage and is a PCL sprain. Sanchez should be able to play next week, depending on his pain threshold.

Thu 11:20 pm - Newsday columnist Bob Glauber has been all over this one right from the start and is reporting that Sanchez left the stadium with a brace on his knee. No guarantee of playing next week.

Thu 10:30 pm - Ryan believes the injury is not serious and likely a sprain and not a tear of Sanchez’s ligament. At this point the Jets are expecting to have Sanchez under center next week against Tampa Bay.  He’ll have an MRI tomorrow.

Thu 9:45 pm - There’s nothing worse than watching your franchise quarterback leave the field with a knee injury in the middle of his first season, especially when you’ve invested a tremendous amount of money and time in the process.

Unfortunately for the Jets, that’s exactly what happened tonight in their game against the Bills in Toronto, as QB Mark Sanchez is out of the game after landed awkwardly on his right knee at the end of a run for a first down. He left the field under his own power and later went into the locker room, but no diagnosis has since emerged.

For now, the team will likely exercise a tremendous amount of caution and keep Sanchez off the field. But depending on the results of a probable MRI this weekend or early next week, New York may find themselves without the new face of the franchise for the foreseeable future, and that could make for a big problem in head coach Rex Ryan’s first season.

As always, we’ll keep you posted when more information becomes available.
