When their team is sitting at 2-11 in the standings, most coaches would feel slightly apprehensive towards their continued job security. Not so for Browns head coach Eric Mangini.
According to the Associated Press, Mangini is not concerned at all about possibly being fired this off-season and fully expects to be the head coach in Cleveland for the foreseeable future. Mangini believes his system is working with the Browns and the players have responded well enough in recent weeks to give the fans of the storied franchise hope for a brighter future.
Browns owner Randy Lerner has been adamant as of late that he is looking for an experience football mind to oversee the operations of the club, after he fired general manager George Kokinis halfway through his first season on the job. Kokinis came to Cleveland on the recommendation of Mangini, leading many to believe that the head coach would be dismissed this winter when Lerner hired a new GM to run the show. So far, Lerner has not said anything with regards to Mangini’s future and likely will not do so until the season is complete.
Mangini is in the first year of a four year contract with the Browns.
