As one of the league’s most electrifying players, Browns WR Joshua Cribbs is naturally not shy about his skills, but despite being severely underpaid for the amount of production he brings to the table in Cleveland, Cribbs is not stumping for a pay raise. Not yet anyway.
Cribbs was asked about a potential extension with the Browns in the future, after a 200 all-purpose yards performance in Cleveland’s 13-6 victory over the defending Super Bowl champions last night, and chose not to go into specifics about the kind of money he expects to receive in the off-season.
“The last thing this city wants is a player talking about money and running around and we haven’t won any games. I mean, you have to do it on the field first, and show them what you can do first. I know I’ve been doing it pretty good, but we have to win games and it will come. Being a leader on the football team, I didn’t want to bring those distractions to our football team inside the locker room, off the field. I didn’t want to be a problem. What I wanted to do was let my play speak for itself, and hopefully I did enough of that tonight.”
– Cleveland wide receiver Joshua Cribbs
That kind of leadership is exactly what the Browns have been missing for so long in their locker room, and as such there is little doubt that Cleveland’s front office management will do whatever they can to keep Cribbs in the fold with a new contract in the near future.
