The Chiefs continued to buck their recent youth movement trend today, signing veteran WR Amani Toomer to a one year deal, according to John Clayton of ESPN.
Toomer should provide a reasonably skilled possession receiver for Kansas City, although his age (35) could be prohibitive in terms of his ability to stay on the field. He’ll join fellow veteran Bobby Engram and third year playmaker Dwayne Bowe as the Chiefs top options at receiver. Devard Darling, Jeff Webb, and Mark Bradley are also in the mix at Kansas City’s training camp, with at least one of that group likely to get the axe sooner or later.
Last season, Toomer totaled 48 receptions for 580 yards and four touchdowns.
