Despite having the most money to spend coming into the NFL Free Agency period, Tampa Bay hasn’t been able to lure anyone new to south Florida just yet.
Instead they’ve focused on taking care of a few of their own, and while that may not satisfy a fan base that is eager to make a return to glory in the near future, it should help them when they take the field this fall.
According to the Pewter Report, the Bucs have re-signed CB Will Allen and WR Michael Clayton to a one year and five year deal respectively. Neither player has performed at a high level for Tampa, but given the option of letting them leave via free agency, the Bucs felt it would be better to keep them around for the time being.
Clayton’s checkered past with the club could indicate another underachieving season is on the way, but that being said, the Bucs will give him every opportunity to emerge as a legitimate target opposite franchise WR Antonio Bryant this season.
Allen will likely struggle to make it on the field this season, but he could find playing time with his former position coach Raheem Morris now at the helm of the team.
