All about the heart…

First off, I’d like to say a quick congratulations to the Pittsburgh Steelers for winning their sixth Super Bowl championship in dramatic fashion last night. Their late game heroics showed that they truly wanted that victory and my hat is off to them for leaving it all on the field.

The game was outstanding from start to finish, despite a few questionable calls on both sides by the officials, and credit should be given to the Cardinals for staying tough throughout the entire game. They made every play they needed to make to win the game save one, and it proved to be the game winner in the touchdown pass to Steelers WR Santonio Holmes, who was most definitely deserving of the MVP trophy.

The end of last night’s game also signaled the end to the NFL season, which is always a sad point in the year for fans like myself that thrive on the action the league provides. That being said, we’re gearing up for a major off-season, complete with a ton of free agency, NFL Draft, and mini-camp coverage, so keep it locked right here at NFLNR for the best coverage in the game!

I’ll be back later on to keep the content flowing, but for now here’s some of the news going around the league this morning. Enjoy the links while I recharge with a big cup of coffee and thanks for your support of NFLNR!

  • Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson underwent a heart transplant yesterday, according to the Associated Press. His condition has not yet been released.
  • The Super Bowl ended badly for close to 50 fans yesterday, as the Tampa police arrested 26 individuals during the game and ejected 18 others. They also dealt with four airplanes that strayed into the airspace over the stadium.
  • The Denver Broncos have locked down their starting center for next season, as Casey Wiegmann has chosen not to retire and will return to the team for at least one more year, according to Bill Williamson (ESPN). Wiegmann replaced Tom Nalen in the lineup last season and went on to a Pro Bowl season in Denver.
