Lions snatch Cunningham from the Chiefs
January 21st, 2009
The Associated Press is reporting that the Detroit Lions have hired Gunther Cunningham (Chiefs) to become their new defensive coordinator. Terms of the deal were not announced.
Cunningham and newly hired head coach Jim Schwartz have a long history with one another, and while the Chiefs initially blocked the Lions request to interview Cunningham, their decision to relent could be an indication of a final verdict on Chiefs head coach Herm Edwards and his future with the team.
